Auburn vs Oregon 2011 BCS Championship Game Picks & Betting Odds

Auburn vs Oregon 2011 BCS Championship Game Picks & Betting Odds - The wait is nearly over and both #1 Auburn (13-0) and #2 Oregon (12-0) prepare to square off in the BCS Championship Picks in Glendale, Arizona on January 10th. If you listen to the prognosticators in Vegas Odds makers, the game will be high-scoring (the latest over/under is 73) and tight (the latest line has Auburn is a -2 BCS Championship Game Odds favorite).

That this game will be high-scoring is not going out on much of a limb. Oregon possesses the #1 offense in the country while Auburn comes in at #4 with both teams averaging over 42 points per game. Both teams have strong running games with young running backs in LaMichael James for Oregon and Onterio McCalebb for Auburn and both teams have electric quarterbacks leading the way.

Oregon features the forgotten man, Darron Thomas, who has thrown for 28 touchdown passes and has run for more than 450 yards and 5 TDs. Thomas is young and talented, a difference maker, but pales in comparison to his counterpart at Auburn. Cameron Newton, the 2010 Heisman winner, has accounted for 49 of his team’s 70 touchdowns, has completed 67% of his passes for over 10 yards per completion, and is his team’s leading rusher with 1,409 yards.

We knew these teams can score so the question is, “Who will make the last stop?” Auburn’s defense has allowed 20+ points nine times this season and the Tigers have consistently outscored opponents and they’ll have to do that again to win the national championship. Chances are Newton’s team will do it again:
